PARENT CONNECT TX
When Your Child Needs More Support, You Don’t Have to Figure It Out Alone
I help parents navigate school concerns, evaluations, Student Support Teams, IEPs, 504 plans, and special education so they can understand their options, know what to ask, and advocate confidently for their child.
Parent Connect TX is for you if...
-
You know something is not right, but you are not sure where to start
-
Your child is struggling academically, behaviorally, socially, or emotionally at school
-
The school has mentioned interventions, a Student Support Team, 504 plan, an evaluation, or special education, and you are not sure what it all means
-
You are wondering whether your child should be evaluated or you need help understanding an evaluation you already have
-
You are preparing for an ARD, IEP, 504 plan, or other school meeting and want to feel informed and prepared
-
Your child already has an IEP or 504 plan, but you are unsure whether the plan is meeting their needs
-
You disagree with the school and want to advocate effectively without creating unnecessary conflict
-
School challenges are also creating stress, behavior struggles, or conflict at home
You don’t need to understand the system before asking for help. Most parents I work with feel some mix of worried, overwhelmed, and unsure whether they're overreacting, and that's a completely normal place to start. You need a place to to sort through what's happening, make sense of the process, and figure out what to do next.
How I Help
You do not need to become a special education expert overnight. It's okay to feel out of your depth right now. This process is confusing by design for people who don't do it every day. You need clear information, steady guidance, and a plan for what comes next.
Understand the Process
I help you make sense of evaluations, school terminology, Student Support Teams, IEPs, 504 plans, services, and your options so you can make informed decisions.
Know What to Do Next
Together, we identify your biggest concerns, determine what questions to ask, and create a clear plan for meetings, evaluations, or next steps with the school.
Advocate with confidence
School meetings can feel intimidating. I help you walk in prepared, knowing what to say and how to advocate for your child without feeling like you are up against the school.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Sonja Miller, Special Education Advocate &
Parent Coach
I spent more than two decades working in public education as a teacher, special education teacher, and school principal. That experience taught me how schools work, how decisions are made, and how overwhelming the process can feel for families. Today, I use that perspective to help parents understand the system, prepare for important conversations, and advocate confidently for their child.
